About Crossroads

The Crossroads Community was founded in 1987 by L.D. & Ruth Johnson and a small group of believers who had attended similar Christian events for Christian renewal called Cursillo and Walk to Emmaus. This group believed God called them to use some of the same components for Christian Renewal that they had experienced, to develop and expression that would serve the whole Body of Christ and those interested in Christianity.

Cursillo and Walk to Emmaus were designed to encourage Christians in their Church Leadership by offering a mini-course in Christianity. This course helps them to set priorities making God first in their life, challenge them to personal Bible Study and accountability as a Christian Witness, with the purpose of developing and encouraging leaders within their denominations. Crossroads has a similar impact on those who participate and commit their lives to Christ. Crossroads has as our mission – conducting Christian Renewal “Journey” weekends during which may joyfully find restoration of Faith and reconciliation with the Lord.

Crossroads has no formal relation with any denomination or organization. Crossroads is NOT a denominational organization and has no single church for its authority. Crossroad’s authority is the Word of GOD, accepting all the canonical books of the Old and New Testaments as a whole and in all their parts as the divinely inspired, revealed and inerrant Word of GOD. Crossroads submits to this as the only infallible authority in matters of Faith and Life. Crossroads’ adherence to GOD’s Word is supervised by a group of Spiritual Directors composed of clergy men and women from several different Christian Churches.

Crossroads’ purpose is to present and reflect Jesus and His Love to those who attend a Crossroads Journey. The Journey is presented as a three day experience with both lay leaders and clergy, from many different churches from the body of Christ, presenting biblical references and personal experiences related to Christian disciplines – study, prayer, reconciliation, discipleship, worship and service.

The group of founders were also aware that, in and out of the church, people have been hurt and discouraged, thus Crossroads developed an emphasis on restoration and reconciliation, healing hurts and restoring people for the mission GOD has called them to – Evangelism. Evangelism is another focus of the Crossroads Experience and anyone desiring to know more about Jesus Christ is welcome to attend a Journey weekend.

The Crossroads community reaches out to all individuals, including lay persons and clergy of all Christian Churches. All are invited to join us in our commitment to encourage and develop Christians to fulfill Christ’s Commandment to Love one another, to help Christians to journey closer to our Lord and to serve Him with joy; to help equip them for beneficial Christian Action in their homes, churches and communities – action that will indeed change our world.
